BLUE PRINT READING—This course covers basic blueprint reading, including residential, commercial and industrial.

 

CODE—Come to class and learn how to use an important tool, the “2002 Code Book”.

 

CONDUIT BENDING A—This shop-lecture course will cover hands-on experience with E.M.T. and rigid types of conduit, safe-use of hand benders, mathematics and layout requirements for proper bending procedures for conduits of 1/2” through 1 1/2”.

 

CONDUIT BENDING B—Included in this shop-lecture class is hands-on experience and lay-out fundamentals for 1 1/2” through 4” rigid, IMC and EMT conduit with the use of power bending equipment.

 

ESTIMATING— Introductory course prepared to assist people now engaged in some aspect of field supervision, or who plan to be involved in the future.  After completing this course each student will be able to estimate and price electrical changes and additions to the original scope of work.  Included in this course will be preparing takeoffs, using and adjusting labor units, material pricing, submittal and shop drawings, computer estimating, change orders and back charges, affects of overtime on productivity, scheduling and how to effectively negotiate with the building owner or his representative.

 

FIBER OPTICS—This course covers optical fiber technology, installation procedures, fiber termination and connectorization, along with splicing and metering techniques to Siecor specifications.  This lecture-lab course has been devised to provide the student with a complete working knowledge of the various approaches to “Fiber Communications”.

 

FIRE ALARM—This class covers basic alarm systems, wiring and devices.  The course is designed to meet the NICET qualifications and builds on the basic systems and goes into programming and addressable systems.  Students work in a hands on lab.

 

FOREMANSHIP—This class is for those individuals who are now in supervision or plan to be.  Topics cover safety, contracts, scheduling, estimating, stewardship, sexual harassment dispatch procedures and leadership skills.

 

LEVITON— This 8 hour class covers Category 5 cable installation, use and termination in lecture and hands-on.  Using Leviton devices the student learns the do’s and don’ts of twisted pair, multiple pair, coax and fiber optic cable.  Earn 6 continuing education credits good toward BICSI renewal.

 

LICENSING PREPARATION—These classes are being offered for General Electrician, Residential and Fire/Life Safety Certifications.  Instructors cover the 1999 NEC Code, Ohms Law, and basic principles required for certification.  Practice tests are given.  The student must provide the 1999 National Electrical Code book for these courses.  Day classes for members working swing shift or on the out of work book are available, as is a home computer course using the internet, contact Jinna or Jane at the ETI for schedules.

 

INSTRUMENTATION “INTRO” SESSION—This informational introduction to industrial instrumentation will begin a new mental insight to how flow, temperature, pressure and level are monitored and used in the world of process control.  In just 9 short weeks you will find valued knowledge to help you understand what those instrument people really do!  This class is helpful for those just starting in this field and also is great review of those prepping for the ISA Certified Control Systems Technician Exam.

 

INSTRUMENTATION “A” SESSION—This course of studies is a continuation of the introduction to Instrumentation.  This session of 9 weeks is to use learned information and apply it in a lab/hands on environment.  It is designed to instruct calibration methods and technique.  This also provides a closer examination of the operation and fundamentals process switches, indicators, transmitters and recorders.  This is a great class for instrumentation installation and loop check personnel.

 

INSTRUMENTATION “B” SESSION—Once you have complete introduction and A classes your are now ready to find out why process control systems and control logic are important pieces to all industries.  Each student will be applying previous knowledge to continue learning how those systems really work.  Using the lab equipment, you will learn all the needed calibration, wiring and testing necessary to construct a process system and insure safe startup procedures and tuning techniques.  Studies will enhance troubleshooting capability and instrument maintenance knowledge.

 

INSTRUMENTATION “C” SESSION—This class is to refine your new found wisdom and help in advance studies in instrumentation.  The goal is to achieve refined knowledge in instrumentation technology and process systems analysis.  This is also an advance class in learning of MMI, computer graphics and how they are used in exploding industry.  So don’t be left out, sign up and see what really is going on in industrial instrumentation.

 

QUALIFIED SAFETY PERSON (QSP) - These classes are scheduled monthly, or more often as sign ups require.  The classes cover 18 hours of safety training for journeymen.  Completion of the class reimburses the member at 10 times their journeyman rate by the LMCC and includes the QSP card and the OSHA 10 card.

 

QUALIFIED SAFETY PERSON (QSP) RENEWAL—This 9 hour safety class is required for renewal of the QSP card.  Completion of the class reimburses the member at 5 time their Journeyman rate by the LMCC.

 

SECURITY SURVEILLANCE— This hands-on lab covers the installation, use, and maintenance of visual security systems, along with testing and troubleshooting these systems.

 

STEPPING UP TO SUPERVSION— This one day seminar covers the basic requirements needed for anyone who is in, or plans to be in, a supervisory role.

 

TECH MATH—This course reviews Basic Mathematics, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole number; as well as introductory square roots and basic algebra which is needed for Electronics.  Successful completion of this course will meet “Algebra” eligibility requirement for Inside Wireman Apprenticeship application.

 

TRANSFORMERS—This course provides the student with a comprehensive knowledge of transformer types, their various applications, interpretation of sizing, theory of operation, proper handling and installation and calculations for feeders, over current protection for primary and secondary according to NEC 450-2.
